Krita Desktop, or Krita 3.2.1, is a free open source painting application. Krita is used by illustrators, comic book artists, matte and texture painters, concept artists and in the digital VFX industry. This application has been in development for over a decade and has had an explosion in growth in recent times. It offers many innovative and common features to help the professional and amateur alike.
Krita boasts a user-friendly interface. The panels and dockers can be customized and moved for a specific workflow. After having a setup, one can save it as his/her workspace. One can also create his/her shortcuts for frequently used tools.
Krita also comes with vector, group, filter, and file layers. Combine, order, and flatten layers help artists to organize their work. Also, there are three different views on how to see the layers.
Through OpenColor IO for EXR and LCMS for ICC, Krita Desktop supports full-color management, allowing artists to incorporate the application into their existing color management pipeline.
Unlike Photoshop, Krita opens PSD files. It allows users to load and save to PSD when they need to take their artwork across various programs. Krita also is the only dedicated painting program that lets artists open, edit, author and saves HDR and scene-deferred images.
